Avril's new album's so complicated

Oh thank goodness.

After three long years, hoodie designer and fragrance creator extraordinaire Avril Lavigne is releasing new music.

The 26-year-old Canadian singer took to her blog today to announce the release of a new album she's had ready for the past year, but that got caught up in "a bunch of bureaucratic BS."

"Not only is this the most meaningful and special record I have written, it is sincere, honest and close to my heart," she writes.

But Lavigne suggests that wasn't enough for her label.

"People do their best work when they are doing what they want, love and is natural for them, not when you are forcing them to be something that they are not," she goes on.

Lavigne reveals the first single off the record is called What The Hell. It's the least personal of the bunch, she says, referring it to as a "fun and funny anthem" that has a "broad message about personal freedom."

Lavigne will shoot the video later this month, for release in January.

She didn't indicate an album release date.
