Here it is -- the official trailer for Blue Valentine, set for release December 31.
The film follows the degradation of a couple's love and marriage, as portrayed by Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams.
Last week the MPAA in the US gave the film an NC-17 rating. The rating is believed to be attributed to a scene in which the couple get drunk in a hotel, where Gosling’s character wants to have sex while his wife doesn’t. Though there is some nudity, the scene is more emotionally-jarring. Still, those who have seen the film are still scratching their heads at the harsh rating.
The NC-17 rating will limit the film's box office success, but let's hope it doesn't hinder its Oscar buzz!
I'm likely setting myself up for disappointment, but I love love love the trailer, and can't wait to see Blue Valentine!
