Golden Globes Fashion: Misses!

Not for lack of trying, there were a number of Hollywood stars at last night's Golden Globes who quite simply missed the mark when it came to fashion.

A few fine women fell victim to gowns that were ill-fitting, poor colour choices, or simply just looked off.

Yes, that includes a Gleek, a former Ghost Whisperer, a supposed fashion expert, and - sigh - even my Blue Valentine.

1. Heidi Klum in Marc Jacobs
Heidi Klum looked absolutely ridiculous in this oddly draped, oddly ribboned, oddly cut tent from Marc Jacobs' Spring 2011 collection. The orange lipstick and bangles upon bangles are helping no one.

2. Julianne Moore in Lanvin
Julianne Moore has yet to learn from past mistakes, donning this ill-conceived one-shoulder pink frock by Lanvin. It's frumpy and clown-like, not to mention full of creases. Yikes.

3. Jennifer Love Hewitt in Romona Keveza
Oh poor Jennifer Love Hewitt. I read a story that she decided on her Golden Globes dress the first time she tried it on, and somehow this is what she went with. Jenny Love is not a big girl, but this does not flatter her figure at all. And that collar is ill-conceived. As one of my Twitter followers commented, she's "sporting one of the biggest crumb catchers I have ever seen."

4. Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta
Glee's Lea Michele loves to dress in Oscar de la Renta, but this time it just fails for her. The over-ruffled Pepto-Bismol coloured dress is too much Barbie princess, not enough Hollywood glamour. The messy hair only makes the look more offensive.

5. Michelle Williams in Valentino
It pains me to include Michelle Williams on this list, because she usually looks so great on the red carpet. Her flower-patterned, long and flowing Valentino was a departure for the actress to begin with. But letalone the distracting pattern, the dress itself appears to fit too large, and Michelle doesn't look particularly comfortable in it. At least her hair and makeup are still on point.
