2011 Gemini Award winners


The Gemini Awards were quick and to the point on CBC tonight, as trophies for seven top categories were handed out within one hour.

Host Russell Peters took shots at the CBC, Canadian reality TV, and nominated series, before a plethora of Canadian celebs handed out the hardware.

Rick Mercer Report walked away with the award for Best Comedy Series, while The Borgias took top honours in the Drama Series category.

The acting awards were spread across a number of nominated shows. On the drama side, Callum Keith Rennie was honoured for his work on police procedural Shattered, while Michelle Thrush took Best Actress for APTN's Blackstone.

Peter Keleghan picked up Best Actor in a Comedy for the canceled CBC series 18 to Life, while Call Me Fitz star Tracy Dawson took Best Actress in a Comedy.

Rounding out the winner's list, James Duthie was named Best Host or Interviewer in a Sportscast for his work on NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft.
