Degrassi won two Gemini Awards, and its creator received a special honour last night at a gala that honoured the best in Canadian drama, children's and youth, comedy and variety TV.
Charlotte Arnold, who plays Holly J, took home the award for best performance in a children's or youth series. Stefan Brogen (Snake!) took home the award for best directing in a children's or youth series.
Meanwhile, Linda Schuyler, who cocreated the show with Stephen Stohn received the Academy Achievement Award.
The CBC mini-series Guns was the night's big winner, taking home five awards including best director for David Sutherland, best writing, best picture, editing, best supporting actor for Cle Bennett and best supporting actress for Debra Lynne McCabe.
Elsewhere, Kim Cattrall won a trophy for best performance in an animated series for Producing Parker.
Overruled! was named best children's program, and Canada's Super Speller took best children's non-fiction program.
Old favourite Polka Dot Door was named a MasterWorks Honouree.
The last round of Gemini winners will be announced during the broadcast gala on November 13.
