Emma Watson looks feroshe in Prada on the July 2011 cover of Vogue.
The 21-year-old actress is gearing up for the July release of the final Harry Potter film, and reveals to the mag that she refused to sign on to the last two films until the studio agreed to accommodate her desire to go to school.
“I have felt for the last ten years I have had this battle; I’ve been fighting so hard to have an education. It’s been this uphill struggle,” she says. “I was Warner Bros.’ pain in the butt. I was their scheduling conflict. I was the one who made life difficult.”
This insistence was important to her, however, as she's now spent half of her life -- since age nine -- working on Harry Potter films.
“I have lived in a complete bubble," she says. "They found me and picked me for the part. And now I’m desperately trying to find my way through it.”
A brief encounter with James Franco -- another actor and scholar -- encouraged Emma that she could balance work and school as well.
“It was such a relief to speak to someone who is trying to do the same thing I’m doing. I talked to him about juggling studying and making films and going backward and forward. He’s not afraid or limited by what he fears people will say about it.”
Kudos to Ms. Watson for pursuing her education and interests outside of acting! While so many would take their fame for granted, Watson isn't happy to rest on her celebrity status.
