Hey friends, I wanted to let you know about a fun event going on this weekend in Calgary -- a free screening of An Island, a collaboration between French filmmaker Vincent Moon and Danish eight-piece band Efterklang.
The unconventional music performance film came to be after Moon, who has filmed bands including Arcade Fire, Final Fantasy, and Mumford & Sons, met Efterklang on a tiny island off the Danish coast.
Over an intense period of four days Efterklang collaborated with more than 200 local musicians, kids, and their own parents, creating new performances and interpretations of songs from their album Magic Chairs.
Calgary's premiere of the movie is happening at the Plaza Theatre this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Cost is free, though you're encouraged to donate food or cash for the Calgary food bank. (C'man. You know you want to).
Prior to the feature presentation, a short selection of some of Vincent's other work will be screened.
Sounds like an ideal way to spend a Saturday afternoon to me. You might even make a new friend or two while you're there!
