Eminem leads the Grammy pack this year, racking up a field best 10 nominations, as announced last night.
That includes nominations for Album of the Year (Recovery) as well as Record of the Year and Song of the Year for 'Love The Way You Lie.'
Once again, singing about domestic abuse really pays off.
Following Eminem, Bruno Mars nabbed seven noms, and Lady Gaga and Lady Antebellum got six a piece.
Competing with Em for Album of the Year are Montrealers the Arcade Fire, who earned three nominations. Lady Antebellum and Gaga are also nominated in the category, along with Katy Perry's critically slammed sophomore album. No idea how she slipped in there, but please don't let her sing live on the broadcast.
Canadian media's shitting itself right now because Drake and Justin Bieber are both nominated for Best New Artist, but I think Florence + the Machine's nod in the category is more exciting and better deserved. Mumford & Sons and Esperanza Spalding round out the category.
Also exciting: Cee Lo Green's 'Fuck You' received four noms, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year. If only he could perform an uncensored version on the broadcast.
After the jump I run down who I was personally most pleased to see nominated, including an almost-American Idol, a 90s comeback story, and two of my heroes.
Ch-check it.
- Adam Lambert's up for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for 'Whataya Want From Me.'
- I'm so over Glee, but it's pretty cool that the young cast is nominated for two awards, including Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals.
- Robyn's 'Dancing On My Own' is nominated for Best Dance Recording, up against La Roux, Gaga, Goldfrapp and Rihanna.
- Janelle Monae snagged a couple noms, including Best Contemporary R&B Album for Archandroid.
- I still love Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' 'Empire State of Mind,' which is nominated for Record of the Year, among two other awards.
- The Best Rap Album category is pretty stacked, pitting Eminem against Jay-Z, the Roots, Drake and (hahah) B.o.B.
- The Best Spoken Word Album category is even more stacked. Nominees are: Craig Ferguson, Sarah Silverman, Jon Stewaert, Michael J. Fox, Carol Burnett and Woody Allen.
- Two of my heroes -- Margaret Cho and Kathy Griffin -- are competing against each other for Best Comedy Album.
