One of the most mind-boggling Golden Globe nominations revealed today is that of Jennifer Love Hewitt in the category of best actress in a miniseries or made-for-TV movie.
Jenny Love is nominated for her role in the Lifetime movie the Client List, in which she plays a woman who gets a job at a massage studio, only to find out the other staff memebers are -- get this! -- prostitutes. GASP! And when the police raid the business, her character ends up as a key witness, putting the city's high-profile johns in handcuffs.
An appropriate Sunday afternoon movie if nothing else is on? Sure.
But Golden Globe-worthy performance? Doubtful. And yeah, that's an actual promo still from the movie, above.
The hullarious thing is that J.Lo Hewitt is nominated alongside some heavy competition -- namely Dame Judi Dench in Return to Crawford, and Claire Danes, who picked up the Emmy in September for her role in Temple Grandin.
Hayley Atwell (Pillars of the Earth) and Romola Garai (Emma) round out the category.
Kudos to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for a truly bizarre nomination, and congrats to Jennifer Love Hewitt in any event.
I do hope she plans on vajazzling for the big event. I'm sure we'll hear about it, whether we want to or not.
