CBC's the Hour will have undergone a makeover when it returns for its seventh season on September 20th.
For starters, it will now be half an hour long and thus renamed George Stroumboulopoulous Tonight.
Because that rolls off the tongue so easily.
The network promises the show's favourite segments will remain in tact, including its news recaps and in-depth guest interviews. Friday's shows will feature music and new voices in culture.
"We're never going to change the core values of the show — in a sense the show is going to be the same," Strombo says. "So it's a hard-hitting interview or a really interesting, hopefully introspective, deeply personal interview — a chance to hear people say things they wouldn't otherwise get the opportunity to say."
Georgie Boy explains the changes come in response to changing audience tastes.
The show also promises to increase its related digital content, offering video content through YouTube, podcasts and radio streaming, as well as apps for iPhone and iPad.
