The first season of Global's Rookie Blue comes to a close tonight, and the network has taken the opportunity to tout the show's ratings as the highest for a Canadian drama's first season in two decades.
Averaging 1.8 million viewers each week in Canada, Global says Rookie Blue has now surpassed the ratings of Due South’s inaugural season in 1994, which claimed 1.7 million viewers. In the process, it has also become the most-watched Canadian program – scripted or unscripted – of the 2009/2010 broadcast year.
The series, which airs on ABC in the U.S., was picked up for a second season three weeks into its run. Season two is currently in production in Toronto.
