Kevin Smith has cast Kyle Gallner to play a young Wayne Gretzky in his upcoming hockey comedy film Hit Somebody.
Gallner's previous credits include Veronica Mars, Big Love, CSI: NY, and the 2010 remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street.
Gallner will play the Great One as a young man first entering the NHL.
The character won't appear until 3/4 of the way through the movie, but Smith refers to Gretzky as the lynchpin of the film, whom the main character aspires to be.
