Shania Twain will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and honoured at the Juno Awards in March, organizers announced yesterday.
"Shania Twain revolutionized the look and sound of country music and truly is one of the most accomplished and celebrated music artists of her era," Melanie Berry, president and CEO of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, said in a statement.
Twain has 12 Junos and five Grammys to her name.
Sadly, I mostly associate Shania with an awful friend I had in high school years, who used to drive us around in his mom's minivan on Friday nights. He loved Shania, so when we were at stop lights he would roll down all the windows and blast Up for the rest of Oakville to hear.
If I separate Shania from such shiver-inducing memories, however, I can totally recognize she's produced some quality music over the years.
In fact, I would totally welcome new music from Shania so we could make new memories together. (Though none of them will involve blasting her music from inside a minivan).
