Black Swan has Independent Spirit

Black Swan won a field best four Independent Spirit Awards last night, including best feature film and best director for Darren Aronofsky, a nice boost going into tonight's Oscars.

Its star Natalie Portman took best female performance, while the film also won best cinematography.

There was enough love to go around, however, as fellow Oscar contenders were also honoured. The Kids Are All Right won best screenplay, The King's Speech took best foreign film, and Exit Through The Gift Shop was named best documentary.

Oscar cohost James Franco, meanwhile, took best male performance for his work in 127 Hours.

John Hawkes and Dale Hickey rounded out the acting categories, winning best supporting male and best supporting female, respectively, for Winter's Bone.
