Snow. In Toronto.

“I always thought this was the type of thing that happened to other people.”

All week in Toronto we’ve been bracing for the snowpocalypse. The biggest snow storm we’ve seen in years. Thirty to 40 centimetres! Or something like that.

I was actually getting pretty excited for it. I hate, but also secretly love, when the weather is the top news story. It would also be great to have a snow day like when we were kids.

Alas, like so many things in life, the storm turned out to be nothing but hype. We woke up this morning with about 10 cm, which wasn’t even enough to throw my TTC bus off schedule.

One good thing to come out of it, however, is the resurfacing of this Rick Mercer Report video from a few years ago, which exemplifies nicely the panic we were all anticipating.

It’s not quite the same as a day off work to drink hot chocolate and watch daytime TV, but comedy helps ease the blow a little bit.
