In case you missed the Oscars last night, James Franco left much to be desired as cohost.
While Anne Hathaway's enthusiasm felt grating at first, I felt bad for her by the end of the broadcast, as it was clear she was at least committed to her duties while Franco could hardly feign interest in delivering his lines.
(Tweets speculating he was high started early in the evening).
For me, highlights from Franco included a shot of him in revealing ballet tights during the pretaped opening, and a mid-show entrance on stage in drag.
While he showed little enthusiasm on stage, Franco did tweet pictures and videos from backstage throughout the night, with the hashtag #OSCARSREALTIME.
So hey, maybe he was just too preoccupied to really deliver on his hosting obligation!
