1. Yes, this is a rom com that isn't reinventing the wheel. Thankfully it doesn't take too long to set itself up: Boy and girl can't stand each other, but love their mutual friends who get married and have an adorable child named Sophie. When mutual friends die tragically, Sophie is left to boy and girl, who may just discover in the process of raising her that they have more chemistry than initially thought.
2. We're all used to Katherine Heigl playing an annoyed woman, and her character in this film is no different. As uptight caterer Holly she delivers her signature eye rolls and holier-than-thou attitude she perfected through Grey's Anatomy, Knocked Up and 21 Dresses. She's still hot.
3. Josh Duhamel plays a character who goes by his last name of Messer, a real subtle nod to the type of person he is. Yup, you guessed it, Messer is carefree, irresponsible, and his hair is consistently messy. He's still hot.
4. I know he's not a huge movie star or anything, but I don't like that Josh Lucas is supporting two TV stars in this movie, as Sophie's doctor and Holly's love interest/distraction. He's got enough charisma to have Duhamel's role.
5. Lessons I learned about parenting by watching Heigl and Duhamel's characters: Throw a baby up in the air, and she may just puke on you. Changing a diaper may lead to poo on your face. Never push a baby over to stall them from taking their first steps. And babies like the Wiggles, while parents do not.
6. Life As We Know It is inoffensive, but familiar, reminding me of many a classic sitcom episode. I was specifically transported to this scene from Full House and this scene from Friends.
Watch it if: you're turned on by Katherine Heigl's annoyed tendencies, or Josh Duhamel's boyish charm.
Life As We Know It is available on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, On Demand and for download now.
