The other night Jackie was over to watch Thursday comedies.
Once 30 Rock was over, we turned to YouTube to drown out Outsourced, and began a delightful stream of late 90s/early 00s Canadian faves, including the Moffatts, McMaster and James, Wave and Prozzak.
It took a few tries to find Prozzak, because we forgot the musical act spelled its name with two Z's and a K. But once we figured that out, oh how the memories rushed back!
I was shocked as we recalled that the cartoon duo of Simon and Milo had not one, not two, but three hits from their first album Hot Show, released in 1998. That includes Sucks To Be You, Strange Disease and, arguably the most ridiculous, Omobolisare.
I was even more shocked to discover through Wikipedia that the band consisted of two former members of Philosopher Kings. Seems Jay Levine and James Bryan McCollum didn't get along as members of P. Kings, but were both totes into the idea of creating bizarre dance music fronted by a couple of cartoons.
Hey -- why not.
Their first two (of four!) albums were nominated for Juno Awards. They even had another (moderate?) hit in 2000 with www.nevergetoveryou. I have no recollection of this song, because I had apparently moved full on into emo by that time, but my roommate could sing the whole thing on Thursday night.
Sadly, Wiki tells me both members of Prozzak are working on other projects -- one of them serving as Nelly Furtado's guitarist.
But did that stop us from having a hullarious couch dance party to Prozzak on Thursday night?
Absolutely not.
Two more (obviously must-see) vids inside.
