Good friends, good weather and good eats (not to mention good drinks) made for a great time as 19 of us gathered from Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and London at Jackay's cottage over the weekend.
Despite eight years of friendship, and a vow to co-parent a child together one day, it was my first time at Jackay's summer getaway.
But it sure did prove worth the wait. In addition to a round or two of flip cup, looking out for Tom Hanks and family at their new cottage down the way, fun times in the sun, and getting stranded in a boat that ran out of gas in the middle of the lake, I was able to cross more than a few items off my Summer Fun List! They include:
11. Read a magazine, preferably while sitting in the sun
This would be a photo of me, reading Nylon Guys with Paul Rudd on the cover (keep scrolling), while sitting in the sun. Truly delightful to just sit back and relax.
48. Sparklers!
As these photos prove, sparklers give most people past-25 a case of the crazy-face.
38. Choreograph dance with Renee
The moves just come so naturally to me and Renee, I'm not even sure we can call it choreography. Nonetheless, we broke out a whole repertoire of dance routines to shock, amaze, and frighten Jackay's friends who had not witnessed such a sight before.
There were the old favourites: Katy Perry's Hot 'N Cold, Kelly Clarkson's My Life Would Suck Without You, and Shakira's Waka Waka (pictured above).
But we also tried out some new material, including: Wilson Phillips' Hold On (inspired by Bridesmaids), Katy Perry's Last Friday Night and Miley Cyrus' Party In the USA.
The Miley song was a last-minute dance in private, before we said goodbye at the end of the weekend. It's too bad we were on such limited time, because I really feel like we worked out some great moves and just needed a couple more rounds of the song to really give it our all.
Alas, there is always next time.
And while I failed to organize trust falls so that I can cross #10: strengthen friendships off my list, I think we can all agree some fine memories were made.
