Join us at Planking Canada!

Admit it. You like lying down.

Now what if I told you there was a fun new game that involves lying down wherever you want?!

You're intrigued, aren't you?

One fateful night in fall 2010, a couple friends and I decided to go out for a Thursday drink. On the way home, one of said friends decided to lie face down in front of a school for a photo op.

Bizarre behaviour, I thought.

Until months later, through the magic of the internet, I discovered there were thousands of other people in the world who also like lying face down on things!

Planking, I discovered, is all the rage in Australia. And it literally involves lying face down on whatever you want and taking photos.

Once we knew planking was a thing in Australia, my friends and I decided to blaze a trail for Canadian plankers.

We quickly built up our portfolio of planking photos, lying face down in bars, karaoke venues and on sidewalks.

We then created the original Canadian Facebook group dedicated to planking. It's called Planking Canada.

That was a mere four weeks ago. And since then, you've likely noticed, Planking Canada has hit the mainstream.

This week we were featured in a Globe & Mail story, a story on CBC's The National, and in a Yahoo! News story about how Planking Canada became a story on CBC's The National.

Imagine! A story about our silly little Facebook group being introduced by the one and only Peter Mansbridge.

Ch-check out how fun planking looks by watching the National story above, then come join us at the Planking Canada group.

And in the words of our spokesperson Cal Irvine, "Plank often, and plank safe."
