Five thoughts about Going the Distance

The Drew Barrymore-Justin Long romcom Going the Distance is available now on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, On Demand and for download.

Here's five thoughts I had while watching the movie about a couple who -- get this! -- pursue a long-distance relationship.

1. Drew Barrymore plays a journalism student who's struggling to find a job given the status of the newspaper industry. Imagine that! "I'm 31 and I'm working for free," she says, a situation I wish I couldn't relate to.

2. The storyline of this romcom is shockingly simple. Where's the gimmick?! Are we just supposed to care about this sincere couple that's attempting a long-distance relationship? I guess so.

3. Justin Long's body is pretty bangin'. We see almost all of it when his character goes for a spray-tan that goes hilariously(!) wrong. Might have to watch that scene again later.

4. Is the band featured in the story a real band? Oh yes, it is! Boxer Rebellion, website here.

5. Justin Long and Drew Barrymore bring the romance to the movie, and it's a good thing Christina Applegate, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis are there to bring the comedy. This movie could really benefit from more Applegate in particular!

Watch it if: the cable's out on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
