Hey friends, the long list of 40 nominees for this year's Polaris Music Prize was announced yesterday.
Awarded by music critics based on artistic merit, regardless of genre, the winner of the Polaris Prize receives $30,000. New this year, the nine non-winning artists whose albums make the short list receive $2,000.
I'm tickled to see Little Scream's The Golden Record make the long list, as Janice Wong just took me to see her perform at Soundscapes on Tuesday. It was my first time seeing her, and I found the performance just delightful.
