Glee covers Unpretty; Shockingly, I like it!

In an attempt to rid my life of things that anger and frustrate me, I quit watching Glee early in its second season.

Yesterday, however, I followed a link to listen to the show's rendition of TLC's 'Unpretty,' which aired as part of Tuesday's episode.

And I'm a little shocked to admit, I can't get enough of this version of the song!

Now this shock has nothing to do with the source material. I have and always will be a TLC fan (RIP Left Eye), and have and always will love this song.

Rather, I'm surprised by the amount of restraint shown in Glee's production of the song, resulting in a softer, gentler version of the poignant tune.

I didn't know Glee did soft and gentle.

Dianna Agron and Lea Michelle hit this song out of the park, using their smooth voices to channel its emotion without getting over dramatic about it. The musical arrangement is simple and (can I say?) pretty, while mashing the lyrics with those of I Feel Pretty adds extra meaning to the song.

I have no idea how this fit into the plot of the show, and it's probably better that way.

I think this is how I'm meant to enjoy Glee. By finding a random gem of a cover online every six months or so.
