Erkyah Badu Challenges “Window Seat” Charge

Erykah Badu has pleaded not guilty to a disorderly conduct charge for her video “Window Seat”. In the music video, Erykah Badu was walking around the Dallas' Dealey Plaza while stripping down bare naked.
Many residents, including children saw Erykah Badu shooting the video and some thought it was inappropriate. However, no one called the police to place a complaint, until the video became a huge viral sensation.

One witness complained to officers and said: “She and her two small children were offended”. This complaint lead to a class C misdemeanour charge, which led to a $500 fine. Badu, refused to pay the $500 and decided to stand up for her right to shoot the video exactly the way she did.

Dallas officials are seeking to use “Window Seat” to apply changes to the city’s “no permit necessary” laws for video shoots.
